Match Report: Trefelin BGC (A)

Llandudno continued their impressive return to the Novira Cymru Premier with a commanding 4-0 victory over Trefelin on Friday night, producing a clinical first-half performance to claim all three points in their first away fixture of the 2026/27 campaign. 

A healthy crowd was in attendance in South Wales, with Llandudno's travelling supporters making themselves heard throughout and providing an excellent backing for the newly-promoted visitors. 

The hosts started brightly as Llandudno took a few minutes to settle into the contest, but the Seasiders soon found their rhythm. An early foul on Callum Stephens earned Trefelin's number 10 a yellow card, while Llandudno's high press began to force errors from the home side and shift the momentum. 

Harvey Bennett was denied by an excellent save after good link-up play involving Callum Stephens, with the Trefelin goalkeeper reacting well to keep the scores level. Llandudno continued to move the ball confidently and looked increasingly dangerous as Anthony Stephens and Mark Williams combined well in wide areas. 

The breakthrough arrived in the 23rd minute when Bennett was brought down inside the penalty area. The striker picked himself up before calmly sending the goalkeeper the wrong way from the spot to give Llandudno a deserved lead. 

That goal settled any remaining nerves and the visitors never looked back. They dominated possession for the remainder of the half, pinning Trefelin inside their own half and creating chance after chance. 

Their second goal arrived on 32 minutes when Callum Stephens rose highest to meet a delivery into the box, powering a header beyond the goalkeeper. Just seven minutes later, Adam Stephens added our third for the evening, finding space inside the penalty area to head home from an Anthony Stephens corner. 

Before Trefelin had time to regroup, Llandudno struck again. An effort crashed back off the post before Bennett reacted quickest to turn the rebound into the net, capping a devastating spell that saw the visitors score three goals in the space of eight first-half minutes.

Despite holding a commanding lead, Llandudno still required goalkeeper Torrence to produce one of the moments of the match shortly before the interval. Torrence at full stretch to deny Trefelin in a one-on-one situation before reacting brilliantly to keep out the follow-up effort and preserve the clean sheet heading into the break.

Leading by four goals, Llandudno managed the second half professionally. Trefelin emerged with greater intent after the restart and enjoyed more possession, but the visitors remained disciplined defensively and rarely allowed the hosts any clear opportunities.

Torrence was called into action again around the hour mark with another important save, while at the other end Llandudno continued to threaten. Cadwallader made a lively impact after replacing Bennett, driving directly at the defence before creating another opening, while the visitors also came within inches of adding a fifth when Trefelin scrambled an effort clear from almost on the goal line.

Manager Jordan Hadaway freshened things up in the closing stages, introducing Cadwallader, Faux, Ruberto and Leon Hughes as Llandudno comfortably saw out the final minutes.

The tempo eased during the closing stages, but there was never any danger of the visitors surrendering their advantage. After a dominant first-half display and a composed second-half performance, Llandudno returned home with an emphatic 4-0 victory, making an early statement that they are ready to compete following their promotion back to the Novira Cymru Premier.
