Grassroots Review 21/09/24

Week 3 of the grassroots season began with our U12s boys comprehensively beating Colwyn Bay before our U16s boys came from two goals down at The Go Goodwins Stadium to overcome Bethel 3-2 in the first round NWCFA Cup with goals from Josh Duckenfield (2) and Sam Butterworth.

Next up were our U15s girls who convincingly defeated Rhyl 1879 on John Bright through goals from Meisi Griffiths (5), Faith Jacob (2), Lauren Jones (2) and Libby Smethurst. On the road our U12s girls were beaten 3-0 at Caernarfon while our U13s girls edged out NFA 6-4 thanks to goals from Esme Williams, Elen Johnson, Lacey Jones, Isabelle Taylor, Anya Woodyatt and Amelie Hamill. In the boys section our U14s recorded a 7-1 victory over neighbours Llandudno Junction as Finley Kelly (3), Harry Adams-Williams (2) and Brooklyn Zilka (2) got on the scoresheet.

Back at The Go Goodwins Stadium it was boys teams in action as the U13s proved too strong for Penmaenmawr Phoenix with Jonah Langley (4), Zac Williams (3), Theo Lea (2), Lelan Edwards (2) and Harri Murphy-Allen completing the scoring. Our U15s then hosted Colwyn Bay in a game that saw the visitors run out 8-2 winners.

Our mini football team’s week began on Wednesday as our U7s took on Llanrwst United before our U9s hosted Rhos United on the Thursday. The weekend then saw our U11s Whites host Penrhyn Bay and our U8s travel to Colwyn Bay and U10s to Llanrwst United on the Sunday.

Once again the week also saw our teams in prestigious fixtures with both Liverpool and Everton, as the our U13s boys travelled to Finch Farm in midweek putting on positives displays before our U8s made the trip to Kirkby and also put on some encouraging performances.
