Cofi's Progress At Seasiders Expense
Caernarfon Town Through With Narrow Victory
First action of the game see’s Ryan Edwards in on goal but his touch takes him closer to goal than he would have wanted and Alex Ramsay charges him down and it’s a poor challenge from the Cofi’s keeper as he clatters high in to the knee of Edwards. The winger stays down and it’s an early substitution as he’s hurt badly with Lee Thomas taking his place.
After a delay the game restarts and Joyce is sent down the wing with Joe Williams tracking back after him and pulls his hamstring in doing so, second lot of action is another substitution with Ryan Williams taking Joe Williams’ place.
Darren Thomas tries an audacious shot from 20 yards that’s deflected just over Robert’s goal, the resulting corner is played short and it’s whipped in swinging towards goal and Gareth Edwards gets a touch, it’s beaten Roberts only to come back off the post. First real chance goes to the away side.
Next chance of the game also goes to Caernarfon as Nathan Craig hits a great 40 yard ball over the top to Darren Thomas switching play before the wideman cuts inside and drills an effort in to the side netting.
First yellow of the game goes to Caernarfon’s Kevin Roberts for a late challenge on Danny Hughes, the referee has done well to keep his cards in his pocket so far after some feisty challenges from the away side.
Mistake from Llandudno at the back as Roberts passes the ball across his own goal from wide and it’s under-hit to Danny Taylor allowing Gareth Evans to race in and nearly put the ball in to an empty net but Taylor does well to change direction and make a challenge denying him the chance, as Evans pulls away with the ball he goes to ground easily and some small sections of the away end call for a penalty but the officials are certain he’s gone to ground. No penalty and it’s the last action of the half.
Llandudno 0 – 0 Caernarfon Town
Second half kicks off and Llandudno win a free kick 25 yards out and it’s another yellow for Caernarfon, this time for Jay Gibbs. Toby Jones lines up the free kick and it’s over the wall but unfortunately it’s over the bar too.
Caernarfon win a corner after Gareth Evans peeled away from a throw in and it’s drilled in near post and met by Gareth Edwards whose header is only half a yard wide but well watched by Taylor who was covering at the far post anyway.
Good hands from Dave Roberts next as Nathan Craig hits one from range and it’s a good effort but it’s an equally good save. Roberts delivers long and Joyce heads on to Ilesanmi who is completely free on goal but it’s a really rash effort and it’s sliced wide point blank. Still 0-0 after the hour mark.
Shaun Cavanagh makes way for Ilesanmi who hasn’t had much go his way on his starting debut.
Caernarfon break and Danny Brookwell is one on one with Danny Shaw and the latter makes a great challenge, only for it to fall fortuitously in front of Brookwell from the tackle in front of goal and he pokes home past Dave Roberts. 1-0 Caernarfon.
Llandudno put the pressure on now and Tom Dix plays Toby Jones down the left before picking out Thomas in the middle who loops an effort goalwards but Ramsay pulls off a good save to keep the tie in their favour.
Owain Jones makes way for Toby Jones who has possibly been our most creative outlet in the game with 10 minutes left on the clock.
Llandudno now playing long with the hope of an opportunity to fall their way but nothing is dropping for them with Caernarfon on to nearly every second ball following the original aerial battle.
Caernarfon break with minutes to go and Jamie Breese is away but for Danny Taylor to pull off a great last minute challenge before he can pull the trigger. The defender’s had a good game in an otherwise unentertaining display.
