Llandudno Triumphant In FAW Youth Cup
Development Squad Secure Quarter Final Spot
Llandudno entertained Cefn Druids on Thursday evening at a chilly Giant Hospitality Stadium for a place in the last 8 up for grabs.
Llandudno started brightly with Aron Hughes and Morgan Owen going close, whilst at the other end Adam Buxton and Ben Hudson went close.
A even first half ended goalless.
HT – 0-0
The second half started similarly to the first with Llandudno on the front foot, but they were dealt a blow as Joe Carey had to leave the field of play as a precaution with a muscle injury.
His replacement Osian Jones was full of energy and led the line well with Aron Hughes just in behind, and once Iwan Jones was played through his cutback found the onrushing Sean Mcaffrey who slotted home well to put the home side 1-0 up.
It was 2 shortly after as a Mcaffrey corner was spilled by keeper Adam Jones and the ball was deemed to have crossed the line. He made amends soon after as Morgan Owen let fly, his shot deflected and was superbly tipped round the post.
Credit to Druids they pushed for a goal but the Llandudno rear-guard held firm to maintain the clean sheet and progress into the quarter finals.
