DANNY HUGHES ANNOUNCES HIS RETIREMENT

We can today announce that Llandudno FC legend and current captain Danny Hughes has retired from football.

Danny Hughes has had an incredible career, making his debut for the first team at 16 in 2004, glory came quickly after winning numerous cups, he later moved onto Rhyl for a short spell however Danny was quick to return to the Seasiders and played a big part in the journey to the Welsh Premier League, he was known for his long range efforts and scored some great goals throughout his career.

Danny became the first Llandudno player to score in Europe after scoring vs Gothenburg in our home tie at Bangor, he remains the top goal scorer for Llandudno in Europe.

We'd like to wish Danny all the best in his retirement, you'll be greatly missed, thank you for everything.

Grant Montgomery:

“Danny has lived the dream really, captaining his home town, winning silverware, winning the league, playing in Europe, he’s achieved everything, what a football career!

Hopefully Danny doesn’t leave the club altogether and I wish him all the very best in his retirement.”

Sean Eardley:

“Danny Hughes, what can I say, an absolute top bloke and an amazing player. Obviously making his debut at the ripe old age of 16 and now at 34 years of age he’s decided that the time is right to announce his retirement.

Having the experience with him in Gothenburg and him scoring in the second leg and remaining the top scorer for Llandudno In Europe is no surprise whatsoever but he’s an unbelievable captain and an unbelievable servant for the football club.

I wish him all the best in his retirement he’s going to be missed massively, it was pleasure to have him as captain and I hope the boots come out very soon for the testimonial.

Despite losing Jags on the field, I’m thrilled to announce he’ll be donning his Casio watch and whistle and joining us in the dugout as part of the first team management.

His experiences, knowledge and know -how will be vital for us as we look to push on this year, he will see the game from a totally different perspective and he’s excited at the thought so I’m buzzing to be now working alongside him”

Thank you Danny!
