Development Squad Put 5 Past Prestatyn In Home Debut

"The first half we really showed our quality which was pleasing but the big positive for me was the second half, we showed that we, as a squad, can do the ugly side of the game."
James Parry, Development Squad Manager

A rare midweek kick off for our Development Squad against Prestatyn at Maesdu Park last night (02/10/19) under the lights; was the setting for an exceptional performance from the squad.

Llandudno started the brighter of the two teams and within 9 minutes they had their first goal through Joe Carey. An unfortunate knee injury to Dani McIlvogue forced Manager James Parry into an early subsitute with Eben Van Der Schyff coming into the game.

A discplined and controlled 20 minute period from the home side resulted in a second goal and a brace for Joe Carey, smashing the ball home from close range.

Alex Roberts was then on the scoresheet for his second in as many games, a surging run finished off neatly.

Scott Brown then grabbed himself a goal just before the break, a deserved one at that for a tireless performance.

4-0 the score at half time with Llandudno's backline staying strong up against a dangerous front 3 of Prestatyn.

An end to end start to the second half and Llandudno really had to show their desire and grit to keep the score at 4-0 with some quality defensive work, Prestatyn did eventually grab a goal on 60', an unchecked run and a fine finish, a top corner effort which Keeper Tom Williams could do nothing about.

5 minutes later Town put the game to bed with a close range finish from substitute Dion Lloyd for his first for the club.

As the game neared it's close, Keeper Tom Williams pulled off a magnificent top corner save which he had no right getting too; that capped a fine performance from the Development Squad and a deserved first 3 points of the season.

Manager James Parry had this to say about the game, "I thought we were terrific from the first minute, we started slowly against Druids last week and were punished, but, we learnt our lessons and showed that tonight with a strong start and that set the tone for the rest of the game.

"The first half we really showed our quality which was pleasing but the big positive for me was the second half, we showed that we, as a squad, can do the ugly side of the game, we were dogged and didn't allow them any space."
