Ancients Inflict Second Loss For Seasiders
Llandudno Beaten By Cefn Druids
A tough test for Llandudno today as we welcome in-form Cefn Druids who are visiting after a promising 3-0 win against Bala Town last weekend.
The game starts with some pressure from the visitors and Sam Hart is the first man in action having to make a good recovering challenge with Druids advancing on Robert’s goal.
Llandudno’s first chance of the game comes shortly after as Marc Williams plays a one two with Toby Jones and is picked back out 4 yards in front of goal, he connects well but it’s saved by the Druids stopper.
The visitors then attack Llandudno’s box and the defence is doing their best to keep the ball away from danger but when it falls to Mudimu 25 yards out he unleashes an effort at goal and it buries in the net behind Roberts. 0-1.
Llandudno regroup well and the goal doesn’t seem to have unsettled the home side as we look to keep the ball down and play and create chances but nothing is sticking so far.
Danny Hughes then has a chance for Llandudno as he runs on to a knock on from midfield and half volleys an effort goalwards but it’s saved down well from Michael Jones.
Cefn Druids keep applying pressure and similar to the first goal Michael Pritchard gets on to the end of a clearance and volleys it in to the bottom corner to make it 0-2 after half an hour.
Llandudno 0 - 2 Cefn Druids
A half time substitution as Sam Hart makes way for Shaun Cavanagh and a change of shape for Llandudno.
With Cefn Druids having a two goal advantage it was up to Llandudno to press in the second half and the change in shape helped them as they looked to settle more on the ball, and it wasn’t too long before Llandudno got a breakthrough as Jones fumbled a shot in the area and Danny Hughes was on hand to tap in at the back post. 1-2.
A strong run from Mike Williams at the back then decides to try his luck and he unleashes an effort goal-wards from 40 yards and it’s a great strike but unfortunately it’s just a yard wide of the post.
Calls for a penalty with quarter of an hour to go in the game as Toby Jones is felled in the area before he can get a shot away but the referee decides on a corner to Llandudno.
With Llandudno pressing for that equaliser Druids looked to counter on the break and they did just that with ten minutes left as they found themselves in a two on one position but Dave Roberts pulled off a good save pressuring a decision from the forward to go for goal.
With three minutes added time on the fourth official’s board there was a scramble in the area following Cavanagh’s snapshot which bounced through legs in the box but it wouldn’t sit for someone to get a clean shot away and the game finished with our second consecutive loss.
