Spoils Shared In Seaside Derby
First Points Dropped By Llandudno In Live Thursday Night Tie.
It was a very blustery evening at The Giant Hospitality Stadium as Llandudno welcomed newly promoted Prestatyn.
Llandudno started brightly and tested the Prestatyn keeper twice with just over 10 minutes on the clock, through Sam Hart and Sam Ilesanmi.
On 12 minutes Llandudno's positive football paid off as Danny Hughes put the home side in front. It was a clever goal from Hughes, the corner coming in and he curled the ball up and over the keeper.
Prestatyn then replied very quickly with striker Jack Kenny leveling for the visitors just 3 minutes later, spurring life into the game.
Toby Jones saw a good long range effort saved well by Jones in the Prestatyn goal as Llandudno looked to react to losing their lead.
Jones was tested again on 25 minutes in the away goal, this time by goalscorer Hughes.
As the half time whistle blew, it was Llandudno who had enjoyed the majority of the chances and would be looking to make their chances count in the second half.
The second half started slowly, until Prestatyn took the lead courtesy of a near-post Ben Maher diving header. Llandudno now found themselves 2-1 down and their perfect record was on the line.
Llandudno moved the ball around positively and on 70' substitute Lee Thomas scored for the home side with a diving header of his own, leveling the game at 2-2.
In the 86th minute everyone around the ground thought Toby Jones had won the game for the home side, but his close range effort was saved by the Prestatyn keeper who found himself in the right place at the right time.
And that was all for the second half and the game finished 2-2, and Llandudno remain unbeaten in the league this season.
Our next home game is on Saturday the 16th of September as we host Barry Town in a 2:30PM kick off.
