Llandudno Beaten At The Death
Second Half Goal Flurry Falls In Favour Of Visitors
The game gets underway at The Giant Hospitality Stadium between the two sides and it’s Llandudno who start the brightest.
A great piece of improvisation from Ryan Edwards to knock the ball past the defender and he had the pace to get on to the end of it and put in a good delivery for Marc Williams who meets it with his head but it’s straight at Chris Mullock. Good start for the home side.
It’s Williams again with the next chance of the game as a mix up at the back between Spittle and Mullock presents the forward with an opportunity to put the ball in to the back of the net but he was always leaning back and scoops the ball over the bar. Let off for Aberystwyth.
It’s Toby Jones next with a chance as he sets himself from 25 yards out and unleashes a powerful effort at Mullock’s bar but it’s just a yard over this time around, Llandudno getting closer.
It wasn’t all Llandudno’s way as Aberystwyth produced a chance after good work down their right hand side channel before eventually one of the opposition managed to get a snapshot away on the edge of the area just after the quarter hour mark.
Llandudno were back on the attack towards the end of the half and Toby Jones delivers a dangerous free kick in to a good area but nobody was attacking it in the box, that was the last real action of the first half and both teams went in goalless.
Llandudno 0 - 0 Aberystwyth
With Llandudno trying to look for a goal early on in the second half it was Aberystwyth who got the first goal of the game against the run of play as Declan Walker nodded in a corner at the back post to make it 1-0 Aberystwyth.
Llandudno reacted well to going a goal down and Ryan Edwards did really well in the middle of the park to create an opportunity for himself and unleashed a shot from 25 yards only to see it go just wide of the post.
Similar to Ryan’s opening Toby Jones did the work this time and decided to rifle an effort himself only this time it does nestle in to the far corner and finds a quick equaliser for Llandudno. 1-1!
There was no time to breathe then as Llandudno take the lead almost instantly after the restart for the first time in the game, Danny Taylor makes a great run from the back, picks the ball up in the middle of the park and lays it off to Toby Jones who fires an effort across the goalkeeper, Mullock saves well but can’t keep hold of it and credit to Danny Taylor who continued his run in to the box and fired in the rebound! 2-1 to Llandudno!
Llandudno searched for another to put the game to bed as Sam Hart latches on to the end of a corner at the back post and unleashes a ferocious volley at point blank range but Mullock pulls off a fantastic save to keep the score as it is.
Some half chances fall to either team with the clock running down, but there was more goals to come in the game, only for it to unfortunately fall the visiting side’s way. Ryan Wade drills a low effort across the box and it beats Roberts in goal and Danny Shaw has to attempt to clear the ball but there was too much pace on it and it crashes off the centre half and in to his own net to make it 2-2 with 5 to go.
With both Llandudno and Aberystwyth searching for a winner in the dying moments it fell the way of Aberystwyth after a looping ball in to the box is bundled over the line by Jonny Spittle following a collision with Roberts.
Llandudno 2 - 3 Aberystwyth
