Llandudno Hold Back Students

Goalless Draw At Giant Hospitality Stadium For Williams' Men

Llandudno started the opening 10 minutes nervily and seemed to struggle to settle down with a few passes going astray, but it was a game they grew in to the longer it went on which given Cardiff Met’s full time status is a testament to them.

It was Llandudno who got the first shot away early on as Cavanagh cut inside and drilled an effort at goal, but it was too near to Will Fuller who saved comfortably.

Cardiff Met were awarded a free kick on the quarter of an hour mark and it was a top effort flying in to the top corner, only for Dave Roberts to pull off arguably the save of the season to keep it out.

Llandudno began to keep the ball better leading up to the hour mark and started to knock on the door of the defence and it was Lee Thomas who had a go next heading in to Fuller’s hands with just over a quarter of the game played.

Both sides built cautiously and Cavanagh was working hard up front to win anything he could and applied plenty of pressure to Will Fuller causing a few urgent kicks to go out of play, but the ball wasn’t quite breaking for that clear cut opportunity and the half finished as it started.

Half Time
Llandudno 0 - 0 Cardiff Met

Llandudno started the second half brightly and showed no signs for tiring against the Students, but their play needed to be disciplined as Cardiff looked setup to break on the counter this half and

soaked up a lot of Llandudno’s pressure. It was with just over 70mins on the clock that Llandudno created a good opportunity following good work from Joyce out wide to earn a free kick, and Toby Jones delivered a great ball towards the penalty spot and Mike Williams thought he’d found a breakthrough as he heads at goal, but at the last second Fuller sprung towards the ball and managed to flick it away. Great stop from the visiting keeper.

As Llandudno had their head in their hands Cardiff did manage to break away and Jordan Lam was racing towards Roberts in a one on one situation and looked as though he could break Town’s hearts, but this time it was Roberts with another top save as he denied Lam’s effort by getting down low and just getting his fingertips on it to push it wide.

With the clock ticking down Llandudno looked the most likely to go on and the win the game but Cardiff’s defence were disciplined and dealt with everything that went their way. But Tom Dix wanted the last say and hearts were in mouths as the ball fell to him on the volley 25 yards out, and unleashed a thunderous volley at goal first time but he was unlucky that it went straight at Fuller who managed to keep his clean sheet intact.
