Llandudno Battle Well In Local Derby
Llandudno welcomed neighbours Conwy on a cold afternoon at the Giant Hospitality Stadium, with 1st Team Manager Iwan Williams and new recruit Jay Gibbs gaining valuable minutes operating in Llandudno’s midfield.
The game started fairly evenly, with 1st team players Tom Creamer and Tom Cad Williams coming up against the ‘veterans’ of Llandudno.
The breakthrough came after half hour, when Sam Thomas was upended in the box, and after some confusion as to who the taker may be up stepped Ant Marshall, but his kick was saved by Tyler Roberts and after a scramble, Iwan Williams was there to head home the rebound.
Back came Conwy and when Daniel Hughes picked up the ball around 25 yards out he let fire into the top corner giving stand in keeper Mckenzie Slaven no chance.
HT – 1-1
The second half started much like the first with Llandudno maybe just edging possession, but it was Conwy who took the lead when Nathan Astbury rose unchallenged from a corner to head home.
It spurred Llandudno on and when sub Iwan Jones was introduced it changed the complexion of the game.
He rose free of any marker from a Jay Gibbs delivery to power a header home and 5 minutes later curled a delightful effort round Roberts to put the hosts 3-2 up.
Morgan Owen then finished the days scoring off with all his own work, cutting in from the right and powering home a shot with his left foot to finish off what was a keenly contested game.
FT – 4-2
