Hard Earned Point At Quay
Six Goal Thriller Shared
Llandudno made the trip to Connahs Quay after a good start to 2018 with 2 wins from 2, but this was going to be another tough test.
They got off to a dream start as well, good work from Osian Jones and Aron Hughes released Morgan Owen who was in lots of room and he finished confidently.
Llandudno had an effort from Jones saved and another effort off the line from a corner and looked in the ascendancy, but after 15 minutes Quay forward Sam Haley found room centrally and finished confidently after rounding Loui Harris in the Llandudno goal.
Back came Llandudno and after a good delivery from Sean McCaffrey the ball was bundled over the line, 2-1 Llandudno.
Quay showed good character and managed to draw themselves level after 35 minutes, after a swift counter attack the ball was played across the area and Jacob Barrett tapped home.
After a frantic first half the referee blew for half time – 2-2
The second half started with the wind at the home sides backs, but fairly even.
Llandudno managed a goal on the hour to take the lead for a 3rd time, Osian Jones capitalized on hesitation in the Quay back line and slotted past the keeper.
This sparked Connahs Quay into life and only for goalkeeper Loui Harris in the Llandudno goal they would’ve drew level. After knocking on the door, a penalty was awarded to the home side in which Joe Sullivan converted.
Quay were pushing, but with Harris and the backline holding firm one last attack for Llandudno resulted in Osian Jones being bundled over in the box but the referee waved away the protests and bought a pulsating game to an end.
