Tight Win Against The Ancients
By Sam Williams
Hard Fought Battle Home To Druids Ends In Victory
Llandudno entertained Cefn Druids looking to put their 2 previous defeats behind them, but this wasn’t going to be an easy task.
The game was pretty even in the early exchanges with half chances for both sides, Sean McCaffery having a good chance which went narrowly over.
Just before the interval Llandudno took the lead, a good corner was swung in from the right and captain Ant Marshall met it with a powerful header which flew into the roof of the net, an ideal time to score at any level of football. As the game went into stoppage time, an awkward ball fell behind the Druids backline and fell kindly for Luke Jones, with the keeper in no-man’s land and an open goal to aim for, his effort sailed narrowly over, and that was the last action of the first half.
HT – 1-0
The second half started similarly to the first with the early exchanges fairly even, Joe Carey had a free kick deflected narrowly wide, Luke Jones cut inside and narrowly shot wide of the keeper’s right-hand post and Osian Jones was even closer as he made contact with a header with got underneath it. Druids then went on the attack and drew level; a loose ball was turned in by the left winger Lambert.
This didn’t deter Llandudno, and a free kick from a promising position was curled home by sub Morgan Owen making the score 2-1. Druids pushed for an equaliser but Llandudno held firm for a valuable 3 points.

MOM: The boys up in the press box went for Luke Jones who worked tirelessly all game, but when the game got physical in parts the experience of Ant Marshall and Cal Jones was invaluable.
