Following the weekends defeat to Whitchurch Alport Llandudno Football Club welcome fellow North West Counties League opponents 1874 Northwich. 1874 was only established in 2012 by supporters of Northwich Victoria, and finished 9 places above their original club in last seasons domestic season.
Manager Iwan Williams saw last Saturday's defeat as a good test, and although the opposition sat deep throughout, the manager challenged his side to be more inventive to carve open the opposition and create the clear cut opportunities needed to win games:
"I was happy that everyone managed to get at least 45mins in as it's a new look squad and it will take time to bed everyone in, but over the next couple of weeks we will start to tailor the squad more in preparation for the competitive season starting next month. We're hoping that teams will show us the same level respect at Llandudno next season like Whitchurch did on Saturday, because we're hoping to compete with the best and it was a good test physically and mentally, whilst trying to break them down while they sat in and protected the space in behind. However, I was happy with the way we moved the ball about the pitch despite the lack of chances, and it was also good to see the players frustrated on Saturday so early on in their Llandudno careers with the stubbornness of the opposition as it shows they have that desire and hunger to win we are looking for."
