A brace from John Owen, along with goals from Toby Jones, George Harry and Alun Webb gave Llandudno the victory in the end, despite a very competitive display from the Lilywhites.
The first half started evenly with both teams having some possession, Rhyl in particular had some chances from range with Mike Pritchard and Danny Sullivan forcing saves from Ryan Roberts in Llandudno’s goal.
Llandudno started to create chances of their own though, George Harry volleyed the ball into Hill-Dunt’s arms.
Defender and captaining Llandudno Mike Pearson managed to loop his magnificent header, only for the crossbar to deny him from giving the Seasiders the lead.
The goal came for the visitors not long after though when a mistake in the Rhyl midfield allowed George Harry to move forward with the ball, his shot from the edge of the area went past Hill-Dunt to give them the lead.
Llandudno had the ascendancy after the first goal, Toby Jones managed to squeeze through the defence but his strike was well saved.
Toby Jones was looking the most likely to get Llandudno’s second and he came close again just two minutes later, but this time his shot went wide of the mark.

The madness didn’t stop there, and just two more minutes later, Alun Webb rifled his shot home from 10 yards to give Llandudno the lead again.
After a crazy 10 minutes of cup football, Llandudno started to control the game once again, and it looked all over when John Owen kept his cool to give the Seasiders’ the breathing space they desperately craved.
Llandudno should have been three clear when they were awarded a penalty, Mike Pearson stepped up but unfortunately skied it.

The Lilywhites pushed for an equaliser but it wasn’t to be and Llandudno went up the other end and finally killed the game, John Owen once again kept his cool to beat the keeper and made it Llandudno 5-3 Rhyl.
