“I've settled into the team really well since the first day I arrived at the club. The lads have been brilliant."”
The midfielder won the poll, beating teammates Toby Jones, Kai Edwards and Zyaac Edwards in a poll that had over 180 votes.
It was a mixed bag of results for the club during September, starting off with a narrow defeat against Cefn Druids in a game where Iwan Williams’ side could easily have taken all three points.
It was then two victories in a row though beating Barry Town 2-0 at home, and then managing an impressive away win against Cardiff Met.
Llandudno couldn’t quite carry on the momentum towards the latter stages though after being comfortably beaten by an impressive Connah’s Quay and losing 2-1 to Bala despite a late Fosu-Mensah goal.
September’s player of the month, Leo Smith started all of the month's games and produced his best display in a Llandudno shirt in particular against Barry Town back on the 8th of September where he managed a goal and an assist for John Owen.
He also played well in the crucial 1-0 defeat against Cardiff Met in what gave the Seasiders their first away win of the season in the Welsh Premier League.
Smith gave his thoughts on the month and says there are positives to be taken out of the games.
“It’s been disappointing to lose the games we have, but I think if you look at the games we’ve won we played well.”
“I think as a team we could look at being more positive in attack to try and get more goals and try to win as much games as possible.”
The 20 year old midfielder who signed in August said he has settled in really well to the squad.
“I’ve settled into the team really well since the first day I arrived at the club which is great. All the lads have been brilliant.”
“For me personally its about playing as much as possible, getting fitness and good performances in every game, and with that getting as many goals and assists as possible during my loan spell.” Said Smith.
“But as a team we need to look at the games coming up and make sure we get the results we want! I want to make sure that when I do go back to Wrexham after my loan spell that I’ve done enough to be a part of the second half of the season.”
Leo was delighted to be voted by the fans as their Player of the Month and hopes to keep impressing.
“To be voted Player of the Month is a great feeling and thanks to everyone who voted. I want to keep impressing more people.” Said Leo.
“October is a massive month for us, the manager has stated already with the games coming up we need to make sure we win most of them to start climbing up the table.”
Manager Iwan Williams has been delighted with the midfielder so far and had this to say about him
“Leo is a great lad and a fantastic player. He’s been a joy to work with. It’s been a tough month with the games we’ve played but Leo has done really well and what’s exciting is that there is more to come from him.” Said the manager.
Leo won the the poll by securing 49% of the vote, with Toby Jones coming next with 28%, the squad now look to Llanelli on Saturday.
